Dr. Rita E. Okoroafor

Dr. Rita Esuru Okoroafor is a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University, Stanford Center for Carbon Storage. Before embarking on a Ph.D. at Stanford University's Energy Resources Engineering department, where she investigated optimal ways of harnessing Enhanced Geothermal Systems, Dr. Okoroafor was a Principal Reservoir Engineer with Schlumberger. She garnered 13 years of oil and gas experience in several roles and locations.
Dr. Okoroafor is an avid SPE and Geothermal Rising volunteer. She was a recipient of the SPE Africa Region Reservoir Dynamics and Description Award (2017), SPE International Young Member Outstanding Service Award (2016), and SPE Africa Region Young Member Outstanding Service Award (2014). Dr. Okoroafor started out her SPE journey as a Student member of SPE Uniport Chapter, holding the roles of Secretary and Vice President in different years. She later went on to serve in the SPE Section 103 Board in various capacities before moving to Lagos, where she joined SPE Section 61. Dr. Okoroafor is passionate about mentorship and diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is known for her excellent people and time management skills. She is an author of two novels, and is married with children.
